I am Rigzin Angmo from the beautiful village of Kargyam Chibra, located in the Changthang region of the Ladakh Province. I have a very nice and lovely two homes. One is my own home where my father, mother, older brother, younger brother and I all live together. My second home is the Ngari Institute of Buddhist Dialectics. I came to Ngari Institute in 2011 when I was 9 years old. The main purpose of the Institute is to provide a quality modern education with traditional values to those children with poor family backgrounds. Since my parents do not have any source of income to give us a good education, and as all parents wish for a better future for their children, they had decided to send me to Ngari Institute.
When I first arrived at Ngari Institute, we only had 25 brother and sister students, all from different regions of Ladakh, such as Changthang, Sham, Nubra, Saboo among others. I was quite young at the time so it was very difficult for me to be away from my family. I had never spent a day without my parents before, and since I did not know any of the other students, I often felt lonely and missed my family. Gradually, everything became normal for me as the students befriended me and the hostel has become my second home.

At the time I joined the hostel, I did not have any knowledge about my own Buddhist faith. I did not know any prayers, except the prayer to Bodhisattva of Wisdom Manjushri. I have learned so much about Buddhism since then and have memorized many prayers. Acquiring knowledge on Buddhist teachings is one of the greatest achievements in my childhood life. I am very proud to be part of this wonderful Ngari family.

I would like to mention the people who are behind the noble Ngari project, including our beloved “Genlays” (Geshe Tsewang Dorje and other teachers), and our dearest supporters. My words of appreciation to all of them would not be sufficient!
The compassion they gave my Ngari brothers, sisters and I is something we will never forget, and we would never dare to. We are so much grateful for their support in our education. They provide us great education based on the traditional values, in addition to good food and comfortable shelter. Because of them, I personally have an opportunity to enroll in such a school like TCV (Tibetan Children Village), which is one of the best available high schools. The Institute also invites teachers to help us with our homework at the campus on a regular basis. Due to this help, we have no problem with our studies.
From the depth of my heart, I would like to express my gratitude to all of the people, who have been supporting us, especially our Genlays (Geshe la and all teachers). You have sacrificed so much for us. I, Rigzin Angmo assure that your sacrifice will not go in vain, as it will definitely become fruitful.
A million thanks from my heart!

Your student,

Rigzin Angmo (B)
