This July, Patty Marcotte traveled from Sacramento to Ladakh and spent precious time at the Ngari Institute of Buddhist Dialectics in Saboo Village. Her experience was heartfelt and deeply moving.
Patty witnessed firsthand how Geshe Tsewang and his community are creating real transformation in Ladakh. Through heartfelt dialogue with staff, monastics, and students, she saw how the Institute cultivates peace and possibility. She described the trip as the most important of her life, amplified by connection – especially being present for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit and a personal audience.
Equally meaningful was the occasion to welcome His Eminence Skyabje Thamthog Rinpoche, who offered oral transmissions and shared teachings on education, restoration, and dharma projects. Additionally, His Eminence Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche visited during this time and offered the oral transmission of In Praise of Dependent Origination.
